MSSK019 – QUICK RELEASE BONNET HINGESFITTING INSTRUCTIONS
The hinges are handed left and right and unlike standard type are pre-shaped.
These can be bent slightly between bonnet mounting end and the spring clip to suit individual cars. Ensure that you do not bend the pre-shaped spring clip end, as this will weaken fixing strength. If the clip fits too tight for quick release, a tiny amount can be filed out of the hinge end as shown, not advised (figure 1.)
There are two sets of holes for the bonnet fixing which covers all vehicles from 1971 on. Check with existing hinge and bonnet for correct assembly. Wrong assembly will be noted quickly as bonnet will appear 1/2” forward. On the bulkhead, there have been different types of brackets. Ensure that you use the original bolt holes if there are more than one. The spring clip and hinge bend away from each other in opposite directions to give correct fitment (figure 2) into the bracket on the bulkhead using the bolt with a locknut attached.
