AP Technical department recognised that
GCC679 with a green paint identifying mark as their best for clamping pressure to date, apart from the 20% uprated version
C-AEG485. For performance engines it works best by fitting
C-AHT596 or
C-AHT595 180mm Race plate.
See
C-AHT594 for 190mm plate.
Better clamping pressure to stop clutch slip is obtained by using our flywheel
C-AEG422 or
C-AEG425.
Clutch kits should be re-balanced to the flywheel assembly as originally done on production. This is because the verto pressure was a heavier item and the main mass rather than the flywheel as on earlier diaphragm models. This was recognised as a small design fault but easily overcome by balancing which is why Rover originally supplied complete balanced Verto assemblies as repacement parts. Therefore this part should be balanced, preferably with the flywheel.
