re gearbox leak fix kit part number MSSK050
Hi,
I've never had to use this particular kit as I went for a brand new original oil seal. My experience is based on a Mini30 with a 998cc engine.
Using a trolley jack and axle stands lift the drivers side of the car as high as possible - this causes the oil in the sump to move away from the seal and reduces leakage when working. There is a roll pin holding the linkage onto the shaft. drift this out with a nail having filed the point off of it. Now remove the linkage and using a small electrical screwdriver prise out the old oil seal. Clean up the oil seal aperture and make sure that the shaft isn't too heavily pitted or worn. The new seal fits straight back in and can be tapped in using a suitable socket (possible spark plug socket as it has a deeper body) - use some engine oil to help it go back in. refit the linkage and roll pin and give it a whirl.
Good Luck

Gearbox Rod Change Anti Oil Leak Seal Kit
GEARBOX ROD CHANGE ANTI OIL LEAK SEAL KIT MSSK050 How hard is it to install this? Does anyone have pictures of how to install this? Thanks, Description This kit consists of one alloy sleeve with a groove on the outside to locate the O ring, the new "O" ring, a rod seal and a gaiter. To fit the kit simply remove the old gaiter if fitted and then the old oil seal. Fit the sleeve with the "O"ring fitted and slide over the rod into the gearbox. If the car was already fitted with a sleeve, remove old one before replacing and then fit the main seal. The dust cover fits up against the seal to prevent road debris getting at the seal.

Gear selector oil leak. Usual fix tried already!
I have the usual mini oil leak where the selector rod goes into the back of the gearbox. Its already had the additional alloy sleeve with the thin rubber seal and then the standard rubber seal (AHU1672) afterwards. Anyone know how to get the alloy sleeve out without taking the gearbox out?? Is it possible with the car up on 4 axle stands, or do you need to put on a proper garage hoist? My guess is to put a new kit MSSK050 back in, and some kind of sealent for good measure.
Thanks, Mark. markybecks@hotmail.co.uk
