Which Cones?
Go for red dot cones, the yellow are more suitable for trackdays.

its to do with the rim and how tire bead sits in it. j rim as a groove one side h both sides and b i would expect has nuthing. the groove helps stop the tire moving under hard cornering. there are lots of differnt letters used u may find an index somewhere but h and j are main types used earlier tires have differnt rims and codes. basicly if ur going to drive hard like on trackdays ect then use h or j rims to be safe.

Evolution Cam - opinions?
evo 1 cam by minispares is near in profine to a kent 266 so is quite a bit milder than a 286 kent. id go less duration than 286 for everyday car but if its 2nd car then why not. other cams worth looking at are kent 276 which will be more suited to everyday 1400. or piper bp270 or bp285 or morspeed trackday (270/270) or swiftune sw10 (280/280 duration).

10' Wheels
they dont fit over the 8.4" discs of the 12" wheeled minis.with exception of one set of alloys from japan that are in the style of mk1 cooper s wheels but have a huge offset to overcome the clearence. this huge offset creates high bearing stresses and also will make stearing heavyier and the stearing more snatchy over bumps. so to do it properly u need fit 7.5" or 7.9" discs. 7.5" discs were originally fitted to mk1-3 cooper s and 1275gt 10" wheel models. buy you can get kits to covert ur discs. vented or non vented. 4 pot or 2 pot. 4 pot vented will be best but depends how much u have to spend. if ur budget is low you can make 7.9" discs using a 1 pot fiesta mk1or2 caliper these apprently work well and a tutorial can be found on you tube. if you buy a kit to convert you car it will costy around £300 you dont reqire the kits with new hubs as yours will be correct. to convert drums to discs you reqire disc hubs(with exception of 7" mk1 cooper brakes that arnt worth bothering with that use the smaller drum brake hubs). as for the wheels you can only get 165mm width tires for road use on 10" wheels. for the beading to sit best it reqires 5-5.1/2" rims widths. 165 tires will fit on 4.5-6" rims tho. use on wider rims has the risk of the tire comming off the rim as it will not sit well. for trackday use wider tires can be obtained if you find the right sources.

649 equiv a+ cam
The 649 is a great cam, but only for a race car, not suitable on engine with a standard head or a 295, and its a good cam only when revving over 4,5k rpm. It really depends on what you're after (use on road or rally or trackdays, current engine specs and future modification)
For a slightly modded 998 i'd reccomend the SW05, the kent 256 or the kent 266.

re:
Ultimately it depends what seats you opt for. composite seats i.e. carbon/fibreglass frame are usually side mounted whereas steel framed seats like the popular cobra clubman are base mounted. Also what you use your car for, if you need the rear seats you really need base mounted seats.
Also a consideration, side mounted seats will have to be fixed behind the crossmember so make sure you're tall enough to reach the pedals/gearlever etc from back there.
I use my car on trackdays/sprints and as an everyday driver. i've got cobra clubman buckets but i've modified the seat subframes to get them to sit a little lower and i've moved the mounts for the drivers seat towards the centre of the car a little and welded them to the back of the crossmember instead of the front to give myself more legroom

Greek Mini
This is my pride and joy. A 1979 Mini 850, originaly yellow. When bught in 1993 it was already a red 1000, and in a very average state. After the disc brakes came a 1275cc lump, bucket seat, a white roof and minilights.
Untill 2001 when a bare shell restoration was carried out as the rust was out of control. Colour was changed to Baby blue-Old English white, together with mk1 rear lights, grille, bonnet, interior and reverse 4,5` rims. Later I added four pot vented discs, as I attended various autotests, trackdays and time attacks.

Twin SU Help
best are the twin hif4/hif38 that were on later MG b's these have a float bowl under the jet so dont have a problem with fuel surg they also vary the mixture slightly acording to temperature helping fuel ecconomy and cold running. hs4 twins are good too and have a slightly more classic look with side mounted fuel bowls and are a close second. dont waist ur time fitting them to a rubbish alloy intake or ur simply wont get any more power than a single hif44, ul need to get a steel manifold from maniflow, paint it sliver tho or get it chromes on outside to help reflect heat as its black from standard. hs2 twins will be restrictive on your engine and hs6's will be un nessary for a mini engine for road use they wont give any more power but will give less torque due to slower gas speeds. cam wise if ur doing all these mods id go for something a little hotter than the sw5, the sw5 is a very nice cam for an everyday car giving good torque but it is a mild road cam being only 244/244 in duration. if you want more power than but still a good idle. u have a choice of piper bp255, kent md266, mg metro cam (repro by kent 450 or 500), ect. if u want even more power but dont mind a slightly ruff idle then piper, bp270, kent md276, morspeed trackday, apt v7. if u want even more peak power but dont mind a weak bottom end power and a very lumby idle then u have a choice of swiftune sw10, kent md286sp/md286, piper bp280, apt spvp2 ect. for what is best depends how you drive and what you use your car for, if u want fuel economy and good torque sw5 is good, if u want a little more sportyier motor that will still idle and pull well though out the rev range 260-270 duration is good in a 1275, if u want more power but dont mind not being able to pull top gear at 30 without it moaning then its not so good it also will use more fuel then 280+ engines are a definate no no for an everyday car they are alright for driving hard but will be a dog in town.
have a look at my database to compare the cams avalible

Anti roll bar
Hey,
I've just been reading the product description on a rear anti roll bar and it says "not suitable for road use"
I was wondering whether somebody could explain to me why this would be the case?
My 92 1275 sprite is my daily driver and i cover a lot of miles. Occassional trackday use is something im aiming for the car is not ready for it just yet... hence the interest in a rear anti roll bar.
Thanks for any help much appreciated
Dan
