mounting 'ultimate' engine stabilizer??
Can anyone advise how/where this mounts on the firewall? Pictures would be fantastic! Do holes have to be drilled, or does it mount with the plate that sits horizontally on the bulkhead? Thanks, Vince

Stabilizer
Hey Vince, Yeah, the bar mounts to the blanking plate for the R/H drive clutch cylinder which is face-up on the cross member. Sometimes they also use the end manifold stud as well. Hope this helps.

stabilizer
OK, Its a direct replacement for the stabilizer on the drivers side. The bar end connects to the bulkhead in the normal position, and the bracket thing mounts over where the broken stud is - not sure how exactly, youd have to try it. You can get Ultimate engine stabilizers which mount on the passenger side, but its worth fixing the proper one first.

Hi, The usual culprit is the one between the engine block and the bulkhead to the lright of the engine above the clutch slave cylinder. If you let them get too slack they can tear the bracket off the bulkhead and then you have an expensive repair to make. The next one in at the bottom front and fixes the sump to the leading edge of the subframe - they had several places for mouting them depending on the year. The engine mounts are also critical to handling and they have a nasty habit of seperating. The righthand one is under the clutch housing and the lefthand one is under the crankshaft pulley - all viewed as if you were sitting in the drivers seat. Yo can fit the aftermarket stabilser kit that bolts from the engine to the grille but this is really only for racers as it transmits so much vibration. If you drive your cooper with any kind of spirit then expect to knock out the upper steady bar rubbers every 6-12 months. While you're down there - check the subframe to body front mounts as they shear away far too easily - fit solid alloy blocks and enjoy just how much better it makes the ride. Cheap and effective!

Carb and stabiliser question
1984 Mayfair manual could someone please measure the bulkhead stabiliser length bolt centre to bolt centre. I have an HIF rebuilt carb and a Metro type inlet manifold fitted which it runs with,it did have a two piece lcb which i could not get to fit without it touching the bulkhead/footwell no matter what i did. Can i cut the exhaust section of a spare standard manifold off,use this and fit a Magic Pipe single conversion downpipe to the r40 system ?

Supercharged Mini Upper Stabilizer Lower Bracket needed
Hi,
Would you please help me find a lower bracket for an upper engine stabilizer for a now supercharged Mini. Could anyone also please help identify a Mini specialist not too far away form the Greater London area that can weld it on? Please don't suggest Minispeed in West Byfleet as they returned the car to me with an engine that was not secured to the upper stabilizer after a massive bill 3 times over the original quote.
Many thanks, all help very much appreciated!
